Through The Magic Door

Distractions aplenty

Exeter Baking Club 25th July Meeting

Today was Exeter Baking Club’s Pie themed meeting! And as I always say, I think we all filled the brief very successfully. I would tell you what everyone brought along but I left all of the recipes at The Hub and can’t remember the names of everything (well done, me) but some of the ones were Key Lime Pie (my personal favourite), Blueberry Maple Pie, Cherry Pie, and Mince Pies. I will go and pick up the recipes at some point and update this list, as well as posting the Bake Of The Week winners recipe.

The theme for our next meeting (which will be held on 8th August) is Biscuits! We will also be doing some biscuit/cookie decorating (aka making a mess!).

For my bake this week, I took inspiration from one of my absolute favourite tv shows – Twin Peaks. Yes, I made Cherry Pie. I’ve never made any kind of pie before, actually I’ve never even made pastry before so I was nervous my pie would fall drastically short of any “Damn Fine” expectations. But overall I think I shouldn’t be displeased with how it turned out and I will definitely be making it again and again.

I was always under the impression that the cherry pie on Twin Peaks was actually apple pie dyed red because Kyle MacLachlan hated cherries!
