Today was the very first meeting of the Exeter Baking Club!
Since I first thought of the idea 6 weeks ago, up until today’s actual gathering, there has been nothing but enthusiasm for this little club and I am proud to have played a part in its startup. My somewhat relentless social networking about the subject and leafleting of Exeter City Centre seems to have done it’s job as we had a wonderful turn out, I thought, for a first meeting (we certainly didn’t run short of cake!). Some people had to cancel or couldn’t make it so hopefully they will be able to join us in 2 weeks time.
The theme for our first meeting was “favourites” and everyone did a great job of bringing something delightfully delicious along. We had victoria sponge, scones, millionaire’s shortbread, american nougat cake, strawberry crisps (or les croustillants aux fraises!), sour cream pound cake, apple cake, and cranberry and almond fingers. Bake Of The Week went to Geraldine’s American Nougat Cake which everyone agreed was simply gorgeous!
